Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na BATMAN!!!

"Holy Kleenex, Batman, it was right under our nose and we blew it!"
 - Robin

Sometimes I wish I were a super hero. And I'm not talkin' some idealistic, pretend super hero like  "Super Mom'...because we know she is not real.

I am talkin' a REAL super hero. One that is cool. One that can fly. One that has a trusty sidekick...kind of like a personal assistant. Kind of like...BATMAN!

So frickin' cool.

Perhaps it is the fact that I grew up with two younger brothers. Or maybe it is because I am the mother of three little boys. But right up there with the mighty Captain Underpants is the very cool, very slick Batman.

Imagine being able to make it to hockey practice, swoop down on the way home to pick up dinner at the grocery store and have a chat with a blue jay on my way home? How convenient it would be to be able to retrieve baseballs from the eaves trough without a ladder or trim the massive evergreen tree in my front lawn with twinkling lights just by taking a quick zoom up to the top and a few trips around the thing?

I think that is a really fancy
Gotham City grocery store in the background.

And that personal assistant thing. I mean, being a part of the famous "Dynamic Duo" would be totally rad. Having someone there at all times to help you through the hard times and being to return the favour just the same. To have Robin say something like, "Holy Strawberries Batman! We're in a jam!" and being able to make a tasty sandwich out of it...well that is what I call friendship.

Waking up each morning as the trusty Bruce Wayne, billionaire philanthropist and by night, fighting crime - not with any superpowers per se (except the flying thing) but with his smarts, sharp detective skills, technology, science, intimidation and skilled physical prowess. (If you are a little lost I suggest you catch up on some reading. And if you have little boys, they will thank you for it.)

Batman and his personal assistant, Robin.

Sometimes I think we all dream about being amazing creatures, wanting to do our part to save the world, make it a better place, fly, wear tight spandex and actually look really good in it...

"Hello Batman. Care to share your strength training
workout tips with me?"

But when I stop and really think about it, I kind of am. Most of us are. OK, so maybe part of my gift to the human race is that I DON'T where spandex, and perhaps I don't literally fly. But I do have wings.

I am trying to do my own little smidgen of good during this life I am living. Raising good boys. Trying to be positive. Putting myself out there with my tiny little space in the blog-o-sphere, hoping to make a few people smile.

And as I said before, I am SO not Super Mom.

Uhhhhhhh....no.

I guess the lesson here is that we don't have to be literal superheros to be awesome. We just have to wake up, put one foot in front of the other, and go to bed knowing that we did our very best that day and we will do it again tomorrow.

Same bat time, same bat channel.

Smiles,

Lora
