Poetry Corner: The Race

Short post today that I think speaks for itself. I write a lot about living in the moment, stopping long enough to notice what is really happening in your life...and this is something I have been pondering for a very long time.

Hurry up...Mr. Jones ate his Wheaties this morning!

This is a short poem I wrote back in high school.

***

The Race

Rodents on their marks
             ready to lunge
at the endless green road
     where the finish line
of happiness
           is shaded by
      clouds of competition.

The Jones' never cease to rest
             to notice fragrant bushes
scattered on the sidelines
      of this never-ending marathon.
