I Wish We Could Rewind

"We gotta know, know when to fight, know when to hold, and when to let it go."
 - Chris Cornell (from the song 'Time')

I am inspired by music.

And I like to listen to Chris Cornell. A lot.

Just an excuse for a pic of my boyfriend Chris.

So the last couple of days, I have had his album Scream playing in my car.

This is the one.

Now Scream is an interesting one for Chris Cornell peeps. It was produced by Timbaland of all producers, so you can imagine it is a little off-side compared to the normal, Soundgarden and Audioslave-esque Seattle, grungy sound that I love.

Timbaland and Cornell.
 A bizarre marriage.
But then again, I have one too. My husband KNOWS that Chris is my boyfriend! And he is FINE with it!

But this is Chris yo, and while at first I was, like, "What you talkin' about Willis?", I have learned to rather enjoy it.

There is a song on Scream called "Time". To start, here are all of the lyrics:

Time
By: Chris Cornell

We don't talk like we used to.
The perfect present is no longer the future.
And I can't find it, trust me I looked around.
Seems like all the sand is at the bottom now.

We gotta know, know when to fight, know when to hold, and when to let it go.
I hope we survive because it's passing by,
I won't be surprised if it all up and blows.

Time time time (If it all up and blows) time time time time (I wish we could rewind)
time time time (I wish we could rewind) time time time time (I wish we could rewind)

We are the shore, the wave is rising
We are the dust made out of diamonds
When metal rusts, we are all drowning
Island of man, we are surrounded

We gotta know, know when to fight, know when to hold, and when to let it go.
I hope we survive because it's passing by,
I won't be surprised if it all up and blows.

Time time time (If it all up and blows) time time time time (I wish we could rewind)
time (time, time, time, time, time) time time time time time time (I wish we could rewind)

Make a little love, make a little war, tell me how it feels dreaming without a future
have a little laugh, have a little cry, each moment gets us closer to saying goodbye
Make a little love, make a little war, tell me how it feels dreaming without a future
have a little laugh, have a little cry, each moment gets us closer to saying goodbye

Big hand keeps getting closer to the little hand all good things come to an end and turn around again
The big hand keeps getting closer to the little hand all good things come to an end

Time time time (If it all up and blows) time time time time (I wish we could rewind)
time (time, time, time, time, time) time time time time time time (I wish we could rewind)

I wish we could rewind

OK. One more pic.
You're welcome.

Well...of course the reality is, we can't rewind time.
We can't fast forward either, and therefore we have no idea what is a moment away.
"Life goes pretty fast..." as Ferris said, and we have to pay attention to it while it happens.

Smart dude, that Ferris.

My kids are growing up fast and just saying that is making me feel old.
I find myself saying too often, "When Drew gets a little older..." when referring to things we will then be able to do without the same demands that we currently have with him still being a baby.

How could I wish this baby face to grow up?

But I have done this before!

I know that with new ages and stages come new challenges and time issues. So why not just enjoy things as they happen...because they are gonna happen anyways.
Sure, sometimes I not only wish to fast-forward, but I wish to rewind. I wish for the days when I was younger, skinnier, with less responsibility, more time, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Ahhhh the glory days. This is me and some friends before my high school prom.
I believe those are bottles of water we are holding.
We all do that.
But if we get lost in these lines of thinking too much about the past or the future, we forget where we actually are.
In the present.

I know, I know. I have talked about this before.
But like you, I have to keep reminding myself.
So there we go.
Mission accomplished.

Not "Mission Impossible".
It's possible. Just focus on the present.
I think Tom Cruise is a dork by the way.
That was mean. Never mind.

Smiles,
Lora
