Every Valley Leads to a Mountain

"Don't let one cloud obliterate the whole sky."
 - Anais Nin

I just heard someone say something that caught my interest on the boob tube.

This person is a Canadian opera singer who has gone through many ups and downs in her life thus far.

And she will inevitably go through many more.

But her attitude about it all inspired me.

Especially when she exclaimed that "every valley leads to a mountain."

When things in her life were low, she used that pain - that valley -  to find a new path to climb the next mountain towards the next high.

Her story is not special.

Well...no.

What I mean is...it is special - but we all have ups and downs.

We all have our own stories to write and to tell.

But the story is always unfolding. There is always a new chapter to write.

Remember those "Choose Your Own Adventure" story books? I used to love those! The idea of being able to choose different paths in the story to get to different endings was a cool concept.

Wonder if they have one called "Valley Survival"?
That would probably be more helpful in the metaphorical sense, no?

Well that is how life works peeps!

Sometimes I read books and they go on and on and on and on and on...

It's like...holy frick...enough of the same thing already! It is like a constant plateau.

Nothing new.

On and on and on and on and on...

No valleys.

No mountains.

If you don't go down, it is much harder to go up. And vice-versa.

And if you don't move...well...you might as well be asleep.

Or dead.

Pretty much.
Or might as well be...

Staying the same...it may be safe.

But safe is not always best.

Comfortable is only comforting for so long.

This looks nice.
For a short while.

Then it becomes boring.

If you wake up in the morning and your main goal more often than not is just to make it to the end of the day...so you can do it all over again...well that is a pretty good sign that something needs to change.

And as Sheryl Crow once sang: "Change will do you good!"

Sing it sister!
Hey...she went through the valley of breast cancer and climbed that next mountain!
Now she has written the new score to the Broadway show "Diner"!
I learnt that on The Tony Awards. True story!

You gotta go down or you gotta go up.

And sometimes...like that opera singer said...you will have to slip into and then trudge though a valley in order to start up that next mountain.

Yup!
Choose your own adventure peeps!

And this is a rumour...but from what I understand, the view up there is awesome!

"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
So...that is what life is all about...

The climb.

I'm not a huge Miley fan I must say...
but I kinda like this song.

Smiles,

Lora

  2. Not to get religious on you or anything Lora but that is a pretty Biblical concept too. "Cross Carrying." Sounds gross but it is really a way of fulfillment through service. ----------- I love it when you help people face real life stuff, and have a good outlook about it. We all need reminders like this one Lora. :) Slam-
